"Do you speak English?" The question one would expect from a foreign visitor trying to find his way around the city comes from a little boy with dirty feet in old sandals and worn clothes. The child is trying to get an American tourist’s attention by holding up a cardboard sign with a request written in English. The man ignores the boy and turns away. He obviously has met such beggars before. The boy murmurs something unpleasant and runs back to his mother, who is standing a couple of meters away, holding a baby wrapped in rags.
